ABOUT Grateful Dave’s Charters :
Captain David Moloney operates the Grateful Dave Charters, offering inshore fishing excursions in the lower Florida Keys (from Big Pine Key to Key West) for a variety of species congregating on the flats and nearshore waterways. The crew utilizes both spin and fly fishing gear for tackling the likes of Bonefish, Snook, Tarpon, Permit, Barracuda, Sharks and more. Custom and personalized charters are available and the crew is more than happy to accommodate your specific fishing preferences and desires.
You’ll be fishing from a 17’ Hell’s Bay Biscayne flats boat, designed for shallow water fishing, with a maximum capacity of 2 passengers per trip. The vessel features a conventional range of Raymarine navigational gear including GPS, radio and fishfinder, and comes equipped with an anchoring system as well as a push pole. Grateful Dave Charters take pride in putting people in unique environments and making fishing memories for everyone on board.
There’s a large variety of species you can target in the waters surrounding the Keys depending on the season. The regular Tarpon migration occurs between early spring throughout late summer when large schools roam through the area, while Snook seem the most active during the winter months. Big Barracudas are a regular on the flats virtually throughout the year, although fall, winter and oftentimes spring appear to be most productive. Bonefish are abundant spring thru late fall, although winter time often attracts the bigger specimen. Most of the species can be targeted all year round though, including Redfish, Sharks, Snapper, Grouper and many others, so feel free to inquire about the recent fish count.
All the appropriate Shimano fishing equipment, live and artificial bait, licenses and beverages (bottled water and soda) are provided by the crew. If you’d like to have your catch cleaned and filleted following the trip, just let Captain Dave know.
